Sharon King-Campbell

Executive Director

Sharon King-Campbell is a producer, playwright, performer, director, poet, and scholar. A former Executive Director of DanceNL, Sharon first came to work for Kittiwake as a contracting administrator in 2016. Since then she has worked for the company as an instructor, dramaturge, grant-writer, and production manager, and was delighted to rejoin the company as producer and now Executive Director in 2025. As a theatre artist, she has performed and directed for companies including Artistic Fraud of Newfoundland, Best Kind Productions, PerSIStence Theatre, and the Stephenville Theatre Festival. Sharon was Artistic and Managing Director of the World’s End Theatre Company from 2008 to 2011, and has been Artistic Director of the Shakespeare by the Sea Festival since 2023. Her plays include Fighting Fire with Snow (World's End Theatre), Give Me Back (skc originals/FTLOL), Original (skc originals/PerSIStence), Dayboil (Ship's Company Theatre), and Melody and the Fishes (Salt Teeth). Her books, This Is How It Is (poetry) and Dayboil (drama), have been published by Breakwater Books. Sharon holds a BFA Theatre and a MA English from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and is currently pursuing her PhD.
