Trainee Program

Kittiwake Ballet’s Trainee dancer program encourages creativity, individuality, dedication, hard work and self-discovery, in a community of teachers, choreographers, and staff who are passionate about ballet and the performing arts. Our goal is to create an environment where pre-professional* dancers thrive and to be a bridge for them to a career in professional dance. Kittiwake’s values are passion, creativity, integrity, professionalism and being community-centric.

*Please note that Kittiwake Ballet is not a designated educational institution and therefore may not issue tuition and enrolment certificates for the purposes of student aid, T2202 and the like.

We are committed to high quality training.

We prioritize dancers’ needs.

We value dedication, hard work and commitment.

We focus on each dancer as an individual.

We embrace challenges and the obstacles we face.

We share our collective knowledge and love for this art form to help catapult dancers forward.

These values are shared and demonstrated by the director and staff at Kittiwake and are the driving force behind every interaction with our community, both inside and outside of the studio.

Trainee dancers work alongside full-time company members, receiving daily training, participating in company rehearsals and performances, taking extra classes and workshops when scheduling permits, and receiving mentoring and assistance with audition preparation. In this program, dancers will gain professional experience while learning to cope with the physical and mental demands place on professional dancers. Trainee dancers will learn to take responsibility for their physical and mental wellbeing and increase their endurance while working a company schedule.

Auditions for Kittiwake’s Trainee dancer program are held annually.
