Julie Mamias

Executive Director

Julie Mamias is a nonprofit arts leader with over 20 years of experience directing performing arts organizations across France and Canada. Originally from France, she has worked in Paris, Marseille, Vancouver, and Montréal before choosing to make St. John's her home in 2026.

Most recently, Julie served as Co-Executive Director of Théâtre Espace Libre in Montréal, one of Québec's leading contemporary theatre companies, where she co-directed alongside the Artistic Director in a shared leadership model. Prior to that, she was Executive Director of New Performance Works Society in Vancouver, a professional dance organization, where she led a full organizational transformation and built a mentorship program serving over 100 emerging artists. She also spent three years as Administrator and Program Manager at Dance West Network, working with dance artists and presenters across British Columbia and Yukon.

Beyond her day-to-day work, Julie is an active volunteer in the arts and nonprofit community. She recently served as Board Chair of Les Voies Culturelles des Faubourgs, and she is currently a mentor in the Open Hearth Mentorship Network in Newfoundland and Labrador, where she supports underrepresented women and gender-diverse leaders in the sector.

Julie is proud to be putting down new roots in Newfoundland and Labrador's arts community. She is committed to shaping organizations where bold artistic vision and sustainable operations go hand in hand.
